Work Therapy Program
KAT – Work Therapy Services
Kitsap Applied Technologies (KAT) offers a program designed to serve individuals veterans and otherwise who have left the work force and who may not be able to reenter the job market due to various inabilities. In such cases KAT offers rehabilitation services to assist the participant in reintegrating into the work force. There are different levels of severity that require different levels of rehabilitation. KAT offers services to address Acute, Sub Acute, and other functional capacity levels that interfere with normal reintegration within the work force, its culture and its environment.
Through structured work strategies, education, and transitional plans participants with disabilities and other co-occurring disorders participate in a variety of situational work areas that, build scaffolding skills that render the individual more employable. This is achieved through job assignments in a work-structured and therapeutic environment. The ultimate goals include gainful community employment, increased independence, and enhanced quality of life.
Problem identification, conditioning/work hardening, work/task analysis, and endurance building are some of the activities involved in the rehabilitation process. Work is a fundamental building block to social integration.
